Combination strategy for consistent final, rapid and predicted Earth rotation parameters

Abstract The accurate knowledge of the Earth’s orientation and rotation in space is essential for a broad variety scientific societal applications. Among others, these include global positioning, near-Earth deep-space navigation, realisation precise reference time systems as well studies geodynamics change phenomena. In this paper, we present refined strategy processing combining Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI), Satellite Laser Ranging (SLR), Global Navigation Systems (GNSS), Doppler Orbitography Radiopositioning Integrated by (DORIS) observations at normal equation level formulate recommendations consistent space-geodetic input data. Based on developed strategy, determine final rapid Earth parameter (ERP) solutions with low latency that also serve basis subsequent prediction ERPs involving effective angular momentum Realising an accuracy comparable to ERP benchmark IERS 14C04 JPL COMB2018, our allows enhance consistency between final, predicted terms RMS differences up 50% compared existing solutions. findings study thus support ambitious goals Geodetic Observing System (GGOS) providing highly series geodetic parameters science
